The story behind buying MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer) is to become competitors in the leading market. Currently, Amazon Prime has a great content library. To access the prime videos, you have to buy prime membership. Once you subscribe to Prime membership, customers will choose to maintain the subscription over more extended periods. They’re not only providing excellent videos as part of the subscription but also free delivery and fast shipping services to customers.

They’ve already signed a licensing deal to produce original shows. Last year they spent over $11 Billion on web series to provide subscribers, the best content in the market.

In the present COVID scenario, most OTT platforms have provided the best content to their customers.

Netflix, Hotstar-Disney, HBO have competed for decades by constantly updating their library with quality content. The only way to survive the current demand for entertainment is by continually updating your library with new content.

And Amazon has taken the perfect step by purchasing MGM at $8.5 Billion. The studio has hundreds of telethons, shows and blockbuster movies like James Bond and Rocky. Moreover, Amazon gets access to MGM intellectual properties. They can stir out as many James Bond sequels as they wish for.
